Has Teaching Become the World’s Worst Profession?

When mid-August approaches, I know that my wife must return to her school building, to set up her classroom for the new academic year.

This year I accompanied her for the day because a workplace fall last February onto a polished concrete floor caused my wife to suffer serious hand injuries and head trauma from a concussion. A worker’s compensation care provider is managing her ongoing rehabilitation.

I knew she would not be able to stand on a ladder to staple long sheets of colored craft paper onto her classroom’s bulletin boards; her balance and coordination are not fully restored. So, I did all of her heavy lifting, ladder standing, and decoration.

I was happy to assist.

Accompanying her to the school building also gave me insight into the mood of other faculty members approaching their new school year.

In year’s passed, teachers in my wife’s school commenced the new academic calendar seemingly filled with joy; they were eager to see their returning students after the summer break. to prepare them for meaningful futures.
